Chiefs add three stars to COVID list, including Travis Kelce

The Kansas City Chiefs added three more players to the COVID list on Monday, including Travis Kelce, Charvarius Ward and Harrison Butker.

The Chiefs have to cross their fingers and hope they won’t be missing three key starters when their game against the Steelers comes around on Sunday.

Kansas City had to add tight end Travis Kelce, cornerback Charvarius Ward and kicker Harrison Butker to the COVID list on Monday after the three reportedly tested positive for the coronavirus.

They join defensive lineman Chris Jones, linebacker Willie Gay and wide receiver Josh Gordon on the list.

Chiefs COVID list: Travis Kelce, Charvarius Ward and Harrison Butker added

Chiefs fans can hold on to hope that Kelce and the others will be back quickly. FanSided’s Matt Verderame reported good news about the severity of their symptoms.

Chiefs now have six players in the COVID protocols

– Travis Kelce
– Chris Jones
– Charvarius Ward
– Harrison Butker
– Josh Gordon
– Willie Gay

However, source tells me nobody on that list has more than “cold-like symptoms” which bodes well for a quick turnaround

The players have to produce a negative covid test before returning to action. If their symptoms are mild, the chance of those players getting that negative test in before the weekend is good.

Of course, nothing is certain. It’ll all come down to how the testing proceeds.

Kelce was just named to the Pro Bowl for the seventh season in a row. Through 14 games this year, he has 1,066 yards and seven touchdowns on 83 receptions.

Ward has already missed several games with injury this season. His return to the lineup in Week 7 helped pull the Chiefs out of their defensive slump, so losing him for the Pittsburgh game could be a problem.

Butker has hit 22 of his 25 field goal attempts this season with a long of 56 yards. He’s also sent 62.7 percent of his kickoffs into the endzone for touchbacks.

The Chiefs are in the driver’s seat in the AFC West and the matchup with the Steelers could put them one step closer to clinching the division.
