Dallas Cowboys lose Amari Cooper to hamstring injury vs. Panthers

One of the Dallas Cowboys’ top weapons in the passing game, Amari Cooper suffered a hamstring injury against the Carolina Panthers

The Dallas Cowboys’ offense was dealt an early blow in their game Sunday afternoon against the Carolina Panthers.

Cowboys wide receiver Amari Cooper went down in the first quarter at AT&T Stadium with a hamstring injury, and is officially questionable to return.

Cooper is the Cowboys’ top receiver, and one of quarterback Dak Prescott’s favorite targets.

What losing Amari Cooper means for Dallas Cowboys’ offense

Dallas was already shorthanded at receiver, with Michael Gallup placed on injured reserve with a strained calf last month, loosing Cooper would put added onus on CeeDee Lamb and Cedric Wilson to play even expanded roles in the Cowboys’ passing game.

Last week, Cooper was only targeted four times, showing that the Cowboys can still be effective, even when his role is diminished.

Cooper entered Sunday afternoon with 19 catches for 189 yards and a pair of touchdowns, so far this season.

If Cooper is unable to return, Lamb, Wilson along with tight ends Blake Jarwin and Dalton Schultz will likely inherit even more targets from Prescott.

The Cowboys led the Carolina Panthers 7-0 at the time of Cooper’s injury, in the first quarter.
