Giants troll Eagles by playing ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’ theme after win

After defeating the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, the New York Giants trolled their division rivals by playing a specific television theme song.

The Philadelphia Eagles had the opportunity to gain ground on the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC East. All they had to do was beat the New York Giants, who were coming off a dud performance against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week. Instead, it was the Eagles who laid an egg, as they lost to the Giants 13-7 on Sunday.

How could things get more humiliating for the Eagles, you ask? Well, the Giants played the theme song of the hit television show It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, as Eagles fans left MetLife Stadium. You can clearly hear it during Giants running back Saquon Barkley’s postgame interview with NFL Network’s Kim Jones.

The gang loses a winnable game at MetLife.

Philadelphia carried a two-game winning streak heading into New Jersey, and a third win would have brought them closer to first-place in the division. But, a bad showing by starting quarterback Jalen Hurts ended any hope of the Eagles winning, despite the opportunities the Giants gave them throughout.

Hurts did lead the Eagles in rushing yards on Sunday, picking up 77 on eight carries. But when it came to passing the ball, Hurts struggled to throw accurate passes. On the day, Huts threw three interceptions, two of which came in the red zone.

Even though eyes were on the Giants offense in Freddie Kitchens’ coordinating debut in New York, the game was won by the defense. With the three interceptions recorded by Darnay Holmes, Tae Crowder and Xavier McKinney, defensive lineman Dexter Lawrence made his presence felt after he forced Eagles running back Boston Scott to fumble on Philadelphia’s penultimate drive of the game.

With this victory, this is now the first time the Giants have earned back-to-back wins over the Eagles since 2007-08. As if the loss could not sting any more for Philly, they had to listen to the “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” theme song play as they walked off the football field.
