UFC Vegas 45: Derrick Lewis vs. Chris Daukaus live results and highlights
The Jacksonville Jaguars have fired former head coach Urban Meyer for cause with every intention of not paying him for the four remaining years of his five-year contract.
With the Jacksonville Jaguars firing former head coach Urban Meyer for cause, this will save the Khan Family millions of dollars as they look for their third head coach in as many seasons.
Meyer is estimated to have made between $10 and $12 million annually to be the Jaguars head coach. He did not even make it through the first year of his five-year deal with the AFC South franchise. Even with one controversy after another, firing Meyer for cause will be easier said than done by the Jaguars organization. There is a chance both parties may have to reach a settlement.
Expect for Jacksonville to hire an offensive-minded head coach to replace him so they can get the most out of former No. 1 overall pick Trevor Lawrence at the quarterback position.

Jaguars fire Urban Meyer for cause, intend to not pay out rest of his contract
Not to say the Jaguars are one of the poorest franchises in the NFL, as Shahid Khan is absolutely loaded, but the do play in one of the smallest media markets in the country. The reason why Jacksonville should try to go the fire-for-cause route is it will free up some cash for the Jaguars to get the best head-coaching candidate possible to replace Meyer. They will need to pay a premium.
While Khan did give two of Meyers’ predecessors in Gus Bradley and Doug Marrone four years apiece to lead this franchise, Jacksonville has been arguably the least successful franchise in the AFC in the last 15 years. They have made the playoffs once since 2008 and regularly pick inside of the top 10 in seemingly every NFL Draft. Jacksonville is in dire need of a massive cultural overhaul.
Though the Meyer era blew up in their faces, the Khans have been given a mulligan and will now hit the reset button to find the right head coach to pair with their franchise cornerstone under center in Lawrence.
