Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was not happy with how the referees called their Thanksgiving game against the Las Vegas Raiders.
The Dallas Cowboys played in probably one of the best Thanksgiving games in recent memory. They forced overtime against the Las Vegas Raiders while trailing the entire game, but they fell by the score of 36-33 on a game-winning field goal by Daniel Carlson. But one thing that did take away from the game was the amount of penalties called in the game by the officials.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was not too fond of how the game was called, and said that the Raiders took advantage of the situation, which he called “throw up ball.” As in, throw up the ball and get the penalty.

The Raiders faced a third-and-18 situation in overtime, and Derek Carr threw up a pass to wide receiver Zay Jones. He did not haul in the pass, but Las Vegas received a huge gain after Dallas cornerback Anthony Brown was called for pass interference. That was Browns’ fourth pass interference penalty of the game, and it set up the game-winning kick by Carlson.
Jones was not the only one upset about how the game was called. Rookie linebacker Micah Parson said that teams should be playing football, “not tag.”

Parsons was called for a roughing the passer penalty in the second half after Hunter Renfrow picked up an 11-yard reception. The thing is, it was not egregious whatsoever, as Carr fell into Parson’s arm and knee. The 11-yard gain turned into 26-yards, and set up Marcus Mariota’s rushing touchdown to give the Raiders a 24-13 lead.
On the day, the Cowboys were called for 14 penalties for a grand total of 166 yards. The Raiders received 14 penalties as well, but for 110 yards.
The Cowboys will put this game behind them, as they prepare for their game against the New Orleans Saints next Thursday.
