Las Vegas Raiders head coach Jon Gruden had a classic reaction when he learned about Monday’s weather delay.
SoFi stadium in Los Angeles, home to the Rams and the Chargers, is a new state-of-the-art facility that will also be the host of Super Bowl 52. The roofed stadium is where tonight’s Monday Night Football game is being played between the Las Vegas Raiders and Chargers.
As kickoff approached, the game had a lightning delay due to thunderstorms in the area. Everyone watching was confused as to how that was possible considering they were playing indoors. Raiders head coach Jon Gruden was captured voicing what everyone was thinking in a NSFW Gruden way.
Why is the Raiders game delayed?
Gruden and viewers got the answer that despite SoFi Stadiums roofing, there are open panels on the side of the stadium that provide a risk. The teams eventually retreated to their locker rooms before returning and kicking off the game about 35 minutes after the original scheduled time.
A competitive divisional matchup between Gruden’s 3-0 Raiders and the 2-1 Chargers, both teams are trying to win a division that has been dominated by the Kansas City Chiefs in recent years.
The Raiders have been finding unique ways to win every game, including playing two overtime games in the first three weeks. The Chargers have been making use of talented quarterback Justin Herbert and a high-powered receiving duo of Mike Williams and Keenan Allen. With the thunderstorms now passed, all the action Gruden needs to worry about is on the field.
