Legendary New Orleans Saints kicker Morten Andersen had his name misspelled during renovations in New Orleans’ newly-dubbed Caesars Superdome.
In 2015, legendary veteran Saints kicker Morten Andersen was the fourth member to be inducted into the New Orleans Saints Ring of Honor. As such, he was honored with a banner in the Superdome.
But recent renovations nearly robbed Andersen of that honor when his name was misspelled as “Morton” instead of “Morten”.

Prior to this year they had banners hanging honoring 6 who make up ROH – Archie, Willie, Rickey, Morten, Mr. Benson & Will Smith.

Rather than the traditional banner, the Saints opted for their Ring of Honor inductees to be honored with illuminated signs instead of banners. Fortunately for Andersen, all it should take to fix the mistake is swapping an “o” for an “e”.
Saints misspell Morten Andersen when honoring the legendary Hall of Fame kicker
A look at Andersen’s career reveals that he has earned a lifetime of honors. Known as “the Great Dane”, the Danish placekicker grew up in Copenhagen, Denmark, until he began kicking footballs during a high school exchange program in the United States. Andersen was so impressive that he earned a scholarship to Michigan State University. Andersen went on to set a Big 10 Conference record for a 63-yard field goal against Ohio State. The 63-yard field goal mark was only just broken in the NFL with a game-winning 66-yard field goal kicked by none other than Baltimore Raven Justin Tucker.
With a career spanning form 1982 to 2007, Andersen holds the NFL record for most regular season games played with 382. He also ranks second in field goals (565) and points scored (2,544) in NFL history. Two years after his 2015 induction into the New Orleans Saints Ring of Honor, Andersen was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame as the second placekicker to ever do so.
