Saquon Barkley wrecks his ankle badly and the New York Giants running back’s day is over.

There is no way star running back Saquon Barkley will be able to return to the New York Giants after rolling his ankle this badly.

After missing nearly all of the season prior due to injury, all Barkley and the Giants were hoping for was a clean bill of health this year. Very early in their Week 5 road game at the division rival Dallas Cowboys, Barkley was not watching where he was going. He stepped on a Cowboys player’s foot and rolled his ankle. Upon taking his shoe off, his ankle was swelling up horrendously. It’s over.

Here is the play Barkley jacked up his ankle on.

And here is his ankle after the fact. Sorry if you had just eaten because this is so gross.

Saquon Barkley ankle injury update

This is a critical year for both Barkley and the Giants. He needs to prove he can stay healthy. Though electrifying coming out of Penn State, he has not lived up to being the No. 2 overall pick in his draft class up to this point. As for the Giants, if they struggle to win games this year, that might be all she wrote for second-year head coach Joe Judge. They cannot fall to 1-4 on the season here.

Here is to Barkley being able to return at some point down the line after destroying his ankle.
