New Orleans Saints wideout Michael Thomas is backing up Urban Meyer despite his controversial stint with the Jaguars ending less than a year in.

Urban Meyer, meet the unemployment line. In arguably one of the worst stints for a head coach in the NFL, Meyer has been fired 13 games into his time with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He posted a 2-11 mark.

While countless folks in Florida are celebrating the news, stud New Orleans Saints wideout Michael Thomas is singing a different tune. That’s because Thomas is calling out people for blasting Meyers and he even went on to say that he knows Meyer will bounce back from this. Okay then, Mr. Thomas.

Urban will bounce back. I understand misery loves company.

Michael Thomas is ready to back Urban Meyer

While Thomas’ tweet is a bit of a head-scratcher, the fact that he’s showing Meyer love isn’t a surprise at all. Meyer was his old coach when the two were together at Ohio State in Columbus. The two developed a great relationship and they’re still close to this day.

Having said that, what did Thomas think was going to be the outcome here for his former coach? Things have gotten worse for Jacksonville each week with Meyer running the show. The off-the-field distractions have been a total nightmare.

With former kicker Josh Lambo coming out and saying that Meyer kicked him too for not hitting field goals in practice was nothing short of insane. What kind of a head coach does that and then doesn’t expect there to be consequences?

Had this been an isolated incident, then maybe Meyer would have been able to stay in Jacksonville. But between that, the video of him dancing with a young woman at a bar, the team’s awful record, and more, the writing was on the wall for him. Jags fans are pumped he’s gone. The same can’t be said for Thomas, however.
