NFL Draft 2022: 10 best players available after Round 1

There are six more rounds and still a few teams who have yet to join in on the fun of the 2022 NFL Draft. Via a trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers now have the first selection in the second round on Friday night in Las Vegas.

As usual, there were a few surprises in Round 1, which opens the door for some talented players to be picked over the next few days. Could any of the following 10 players get the nod at No. 33 for the Bucs? Stay tuned.

NFL Draft: Best players available for Day 2

10. RB Breech Hall (Iowa State)

A year ago, there were two running backs selected in the first round and they came on back-to-back selections. The Steelers chose Najee Harris 24th overall and the Jaguars opted for Travis Etienne at No. 25. On Thursday night, there was no running back picked in the first round for the first time since 2014.

Could Iowa State’s Breech Hall be a second-round selection? In three seasons with the Cyclones, he totaled a combined 4,675 yards from scrimmage and reached the end zone 56 times in 36 games.

9. DE Boye Mafe (Minnesota)

Defense ruled the early stages of the first round of this year’s draft. For the first time since 1991, the first five selections on this side of the ball were the choice. Of course, teams are looking for as much help when it comes to getting after opposing quarterbacks.

University of Minnesota defensive end Boye Mafe saw his most playing time in his final collegiate season. In 12 outings, he totaled 34 tackles, seven sacks and a forced fumble. The 6’4”, 265-pound product is an intriguing prospect.
