Rams Roster: Rams wide receivers depth chart after signing Odell Beckham Jr.

The high-powered offense of the Rams adds OBJ and gets more explosive

After being released from the Cleveland Browns on Monday, Odell Beckham Jr.’s management team made sure that his intentions were clear. Beckham Jr. wanted to sign with a Super Bowl contender, and preferably one that leaned on their passing offense. He also wanted to be properly used and given more targets.

Signing with the Rams got him on a contender but may not fulfill his second request.

The Los Angeles Rams may pass on nearly 60 percent of offensive snaps, but their receiver room is already deep to account for that. There are several high-level receivers already on the roster that have earned their spot by flourishing in Sean McVay’s system.

Beckham Jr. will have to compete with Cooper Kupp, Robert Woods

The current number one receiver on the Rams roster is Cooper Kupp, and that is unlikely to change. In only nine games, Kupp has grabbed 1019 yards and 10 touchdowns, putting him on pace to end the season with 1924 yards and about 19 touchdowns.

Meanwhile, the Rams’ current number two receiver is Robert Woods. Woods was projected before the season to lead the Rams receiver group, being drafted far higher in fantasy football drafts than Kupp. However, Woods has lived in Kupp’s shadow this season, only grabbing 556 yards and four touchdowns.

Behind the front two receivers, the Rams have the great Van Jefferson in the slot. 433 yards and three touchdowns as the third guy on the receiver chart is exactly what you need from that position. This position will go untouched with the addition of OBJ.

Beckham Jr. will likely start his tenure in LA by splitting reps with Woods, getting more and more snaps as he gets more familiar with the extremely deep Mcvay offense. Once he is fully inserted into that role, Woods will likely be pushed to the second string like DeSean Jackson earlier this season, which will make him a potential trade target this offseason.
