Todd McShay raises questions about potential No. 1 pick Kayvon Thibodeaux

While many believe Kayvon Thibodeaux is a lock to be the top pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, Todd McShay seems to doubt that a bit.

Oregon’s Kayvon Thibodeaux has long looked like one of the most talented prospects for the upcoming NFL Draft. His name has routinely been mentioned whenever the topic of the top pick for the 2022 NFL Draft comes up. However, ESPN’s Todd McShay reported that some seem a little wary of selecting Thibodeaux with that high of a pick.

While down in Mobile, Alabama for the Senior Bowl, McShay shared that he would not be shocked if Thibodeaux tumbled a bit down the draft board.

In his report, McShay noted some had “concerns that [Thibodeaux] doesn’t play with the same fire as some other top prospects.”

According to McShay, there aren’t any concerns over how good Thibodeaux could potentially be at his best, but there are some interested in how low his floor might be. McShay continued, mentioning he had multiple conversations that led him to believe it shouldn’t surprise anyone if Thibodeaux was drafted later than what many would expect.

“His ceiling is high, but the floor is lower than what you want for a top-five pick,” McShay wrote. “And based on a handful of conversations, it wouldn’t shock me if Thibodeaux fell out of the top five.”

That’s not exactly good.

Thibodeaux is a phenomenally talented pass rusher who seems to have a ton of potential. He was highly regarded throughout the entirety of his college career and many believe that he can have an impact for whichever team drafts him.

He certainly seems to think he’ll be able to do great things in the NFL.

The 6-foot-5, 250-pound defensive end had 126 tackles throughout the three seasons he played for the Oregon Ducks. In total, Thibodeaux recorded 35.5 tackles for loss during his collegiate career.
