Tiger Woods has been an inspiration for all the current golfers who grew up watching him. Moreover, plenty of tour pros still idolize him, and they get overwhelmed while playing with him. Recently, the English golfer Tommy Fleetwood revealed a fascinating story about Tiger proving why he is one of the best golfers of all time.
Meanwhile, Fleetwood was at the Rick Shiels Golf Show, where he revealed this unheard story. The host asked him whether Tiger was the best golfer he has played with, “Yeah, the round he played in Japan in the first round was the best round of golf I have ever watched,” revealed Fleetwood.
Why does Tommy Fleetwood feel this was the best round of Tiger Woods?
Tommy Fleetwood was playing the 2020 ZoZo Championship round one with Tiger Woods and Tony Finau. The course setup and conditions were severe, and Woods bogeyed the first three holes and was +3 thru three. “He bogeyed the first three holes and then shot. I think six under. He was leading after day one, and it was a really tough course, and he was three over thru three,” said Fleetwood.
Additionally, Fleetwood said he was playing average golf and was heading towards a score of even-par or one over. Moreover, he revealed the way Tiger made a comeback in that round was unfathomable. The 82-time PGA Tour winner went on to score six-under for the day.
“At the end of the day, he taps in for his 66 with nine birdies in his last 15. And I shook his hand, and I said that was really good today, Tiger. He looks at me and winked, and he went how about that, huh? And I was like he knows it was good,” said the British golfer.
Furthermore, he revealed Tiger hit one of the most atrocious drives on the second hole that can shock even an 18 handicapper. “He hit it like a duck hook off his second hole, and Finau was like he wasn’t even watching. I was like, did you just see that,” concluded Tommy.
