Bantamweight is one of the deepest and most talented divisions in the UFC. On Saturday night, Rob Font and Marlon Vera fight, with the winner looking to move one step closer to a title fight.
The fight was moved to a catchweight on Friday after Font failed to weigh in at the bantamweight limit. Font entered Saturday as the fifth-ranked bantamweight fighter. In his last fight, Font was defeated by Jose Aldo. The loss ended Font’s fourth fight winning streak.
Vera walked into Las Vegas as the UFC’s eighth-ranked bantamweight. The Ecuadorian fighter entered the fight against Font on a high note. In his last fight, Vera scored a spectacular front kick knockout of Frankie Edgar at UFC 268. The knockout earned Vera a bonus for the second straight fight after he won the fight of the night bonus against Davey Grant.
The scrap between Tatsuro Taira and Carlos Candelario was rescheduled due to an illness to Candelario.
