With the loss to the Detroit Lions on Sunday, Minnesota Vikings fans continue to urge the organization to fire Mike Zimmer.
Countless folks who love the Minnesota Vikings remain furious with veteran head coach Mike Zimmer. The team had a golden opportunity to earn an easy win against the Detroit Lions last weekend. Instead?
Well, instead the team suffered a heartbreaking loss in walk-off fashion thanks to a Jared Goff touchdown. Now, the Vikings are 5-7 and the confidence isn’t high for the team to make the postseason. That’s all on Zimmer.
Mike Zimmer continues to be on the hot seat for the Vikings
While Vikings supporters want Zimmer out as soon as possible, it’s not that easy. The feeling here is that the earliest we can see a change at the top for Minnesota would be at the end of the 2021 campaign.
Zimmer has earned the respect and confidence of the front office. He’s in his eighth season with the Vikings and he’s recorded some truly outstanding seasons with the team. No one has forgotten about them going 13-3 in 2017 and winning the NFC North.
Having said that, this team went 7-9 last year and missed out on the playoffs. Everyone in the Twin Cities was hoping that the Vikes would be able to get back on track this year and push for a division title.
Instead, people have had to watch Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers look outstanding. The Packers are the overwhelming favorites to win the NFC North and they could clinch things in the near future.
For the Vikings, it’s been another rough go and the loss to the Lions sent things over the top for folks who want Zimmer out. Again, we don’t think Zimmer will be canned before ’21 wraps up, but unless his team finishes hot, he could be on his way out soon enough.
