Watch: Richard Sherman announces he’s signing with Buccaneers

Richard Sherman, 33, announced this morning on the Richard Sherman Podcast, that he is back and signing with the defending Super Bowl Champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

It was reported that the two were in talks and Sherman went to visit the team in Tampa on Tuesday. That visit quickly materialized into a one-year deal initially reported by Sherman himself.

Richard Sherman chose Buccaneers over former teams

The five-time Pro bowler spent the majority of his career with the Seattle Seahawks and most recently with the San Francisco 49ers.

Tom Brady successfully recruited Richard Sherman

A big part of that decision was having the opportunity to play with quarterback Tom Brady. During the podcast, Sherman said that it was Brady who reached out to him and asked if he was ready to play.

Sherman discussed the evolution of the two’s relationship throughout the years on and off the field. The competitors turned teammates will have the chance to bring back-to-back championships to the Buccaneers.

Buccaneers need help defensively

Sherman has led many quality defenses during his time in the league. The Buccaneers who were a top defense last season have struggled throughout the first three games this season. They have had a number of injuries to the defensive backfield and brought in the future Hall of Famer in hopes to correct things.
