The dispute over the division of the house and land could not be resolved even after leaving the father’s body under the open sky for 10 hours. Local dignitaries rushed to a stage where two brothers and four sisters were arguing over the share of the property left by the father and preventing the burial of the body.
Detective police and journalists came to the spot after receiving the news of the final stage of dispute resolution in the long arbitration meeting.
The incident took place at 12 noon on Sunday at the boatman’s house in Charindruria village of Uttar Charbangshi union.
It is learned that Maleka Begum, wife of old Adam Ali of Charindruria village, died at her home on Saturday morning. Adam Ali (95) also died at 3 pm on the same day. He is survived by his 3 sons and 4 daughters and grandchildren.
Before his death, Adam Ali bequeathed 480 per cent of his land and 26 per cent of his wife’s land to their son Mohan Majhi. His eldest and youngest son and four daughters could not accept the matter. The brothers and sisters had been arguing about this for a long time.
In this incident, two brothers and four sisters filed a case against the father in the civil court for depriving them. Mejo’s son Mohan Majhi was living with Adam Ali. The other 6 siblings were blaming Mohan Majhi for Adam Ali’s death. Their allegation is that Mohan Majhi embezzled the entire land as there was a possibility of fair distribution of land through the district court.
According to locals, Adam Ali had a long-running dispute with his elder brother Mohan Majhi, the eldest of the six children, and his four sisters over a land dispute. 6 cases were also filed between the two. About two months ago, a boy named Kausar was severely beaten for occupying four percent of the land in Haiderganj Bazar and building a shop. Due to this dispute, the burial of the body was stopped.
In this regard, Uttar Charbangshi UP Chairman Abul Hossain said that it was a very sad incident. I did not inquire after hearing the incident. While Adam Ali was alive, he had several meetings with the children about the distribution of land. But Adam Ali gave him all the land as the other children did not listen to him except Mohan Majhi.
Rafiq Khan, a prominent local businessman, said he had no decision to bury Adam Ali if he was assured that his land issue would be resolved on Friday.
The eldest son and four daughters of the unfortunate Adam Ali have complained that their father has been living with their cousin Mohan Majhi for a long time. On that occasion, he persuaded his father to write off all his property in his own name. I filed a case in the village court. But the court ordered the father to appear but he could not attend due to illness. Meanwhile, their mother Maleka Begum and their father died at 8 am on Saturday.
In this context, Mohan Majhi said, when his father suddenly fell ill on Saturday afternoon, he was shown to the local clinic. At this time the doctor prescribed some tests and medicines and asked the father to keep him at home for treatment. I was treating my father at home according to that. On Saturday night, my father became very ill and died. When my father was healthy, he wrote the house and land in my name. I have no guilt.
