These three NFL quarterbacks played poorly enough in Week 14 to merit being benched sooner rather than later.

It is a guarantee to see horrendous quarterback play on display in the early-afternoon window of an NFL Sunday.

There are so many reasons why these games are not shown in primetime. If the players on the field were better, there is a chance we would see these teams playing later in the day on Sunday, or, at this point of season, getting flexed into primetime. Either way, it was not a banner day for quarterback play for these three franchises. All three performances left a bad taste in our mouths.

Regardless of if they do get benched or not, these quarterbacks did not help their teams win at all.

It may only be Zach Wilson’s rookie season out of BYU, but he is starting to run out of time when it comes to him being a franchise quarterback worthy of investing in. The New York Jets may have used the No. 2 overall pick on the gunslinger, but he has yet to resemble anything close to what Gang Green thought they would be getting coming out of Provo. Sunday was another rough game.

In what could have been a winnable game for the Jets, New York was totally flightless vs. the New Orleans Saints. To make matters worse, Wilson was the second-best former Cougars quarterback on the field. Gadget quarterback Taysom Hill was able to orchestrate the Saints’ offense down the field on many successful drives, despite a having mallet finger limiting his overall throwing ability.

Wilson completed 19-of-42 passes for 202 yards in the Jets’ 30-9 home loss to the Saints. New York fell to 3-10 on the season, meaning it will be another AFC playoffs without the Jets involved. While they do not have a deep roster by any stretch of the imagination, Wilson is one of the worst starters in the league. Simply, his second year out of BYU has to be exponentially better than this.

How many more starts will it take for Wilson to show us something? Anything? This is getting old.
