Ananyan dominated Gonzalez in a close fight and won the WBA-Continental Americas belt

Petros Ananyan won the World Boxing Association (WBA) Continental Americas super lightweight title with a majority decision victory over Daniel Gonzalez on Saturday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

The Armenian-born, Russian fighter had to work hard to get a 95-95, 96-94 and 96-94 from the judges to score an important victory in his career. The 32-year-old fighter took advantage of his experience and strength in an action-packed fight to land the best punches.

Ananyan had a tough fight but proved that he is capable of coming through in all kinds of situations and thus conquered the vacant title of the pioneer organization.

Gonzalez, a 32-year-old American, left a pleasant impression and gave a good show to the public. He was a headache for Ananyan throughout the fight but came up just short of winning the fight.

With the win, Ananyan has a record of 16 wins, 2 losses, 2 draws and 7 knockouts.Gonzalez dropped his record to 20 wins, 3 losses, 1 draw and 7 knockouts.
