William “Camaron” Zepeda showed his most devastating version at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, and scored a fourth round technical knockout over John Vincent Moralde to retain his World Boxing Association (WBA) Continental Americas title on Saturday night.
The Mexican returned to U.S. soil after capturing the regional championship in June and did not give quarter to his Filipino opponent to make his first defense of the black and gold crown.
The 25-year-old fighter showed an aggressive style from the first moment and with a high volume of punches started attacking the Asian. Zepeda worked well with his left hook and straight right to push Moralde back, who tried to counterattack without success.
Although he was on the attack at all times, Zepeda’s mobility and his ability to avoid his opponent’s punches stood out. In the fourth round he connected good hits to Moralde’s face and forced him to entrench in the ropes without response, so the referee decided to stop the actions.
Zepeda remained undefeated in 24 fights, 22 of them won by knockout, while Moralde’s record dropped to 24 wins, 5 losses and 13 knockouts.
