Chiefs’ Chris Jones reportedly improving, game-time decision vs. Bills

Kansas City Chiefs defensive lineman Chris Jones is reportedly a game-time decision for Sunday night’s huge game against the Buffalo Bills.

The Kansas City Chiefs are in unfamiliar territory in the Patrick Mahomes era — last place in the AFC West four weeks into the 2021 season. On Sunday, they have a huge game against perennial contenders in the Buffalo Bills. But will the Chiefs have star defensive lineman Chris Jones available for them for the contest?

According to FanSided’s NFL reporter Matt Verderame, Jones is “steadily improving,” even though he has not participated in practice all week, and is viewed as a game-time decision for Sunday night.

My understanding is Chiefs DE Chris Jones is steadily improving despite not practicing this week.

He’s listed as questionable and looks to be a true game-time decision.

Chris Jones game-time decision for Week 5 game against Bills

Jones has missed the entire week of practice due to a wrist ailment that caused him to show up on the team’s injury report throughout the season. Despite that, Jones had played in all four of Kansas City’s games this campaign.

Through the first month of the season, Jones has posted seven combined tackles (three for loss), eight pressures, four quarterback hits and two sacks.

The Chiefs defense is in for what is going to be a tough battle this weekend, whether Jones is active for the game or ruled out prior to kickoff on Sunday night. They have to face a Bills team that has averaged 404.0 total yards of offense per game (seventh-highest in NFL) and 33.5 points per game (tied for second-most).

Kansas City’s defense has allowed an average of 437.8 yards of total offense per game, which is the second-most in the NFL, only behind Seattle Seahawks (450.8 through five games). Perhaps the most damning is that they have surrendered an average of 31.3 points, which only ranks fewer than the Atlanta Falcons, who average 32 points allowed.

Chiefs fans, keep your eyes peeled for the minutes leading up to kickoff. That is probably when you are going to find out if Jones will suit up for Sunday Night Football.
