Cowboys lose Tyron Smith again with ankle injury for Week 15

Dallas Cowboys offensive tackle Tyron Smith was injured during Week 14 with an ankle injury and is expected to miss Week 15 with the injury.

Tyron Smith has missed three games this season due to an ankle injury — and after reaggravating the injury in Week 14, he’s now set to miss even more time.

Mike McCarthy said the Cowboys will not have Tyron Smith this week. Said it was an aggravation of same injury that knocked Smith out for 3 games earlier.

According to Mike McCarthy, the Cowboys will be playing without Smith for at least the next week. Fortunately, McCarthy also stated that he doesn’t believe Smith will need surgery to repair his ankle this season.

Smith, who was seen limping after the Cowboys’ 27-20 win over the Washington Football Team, is a player who will be missed in the lineup in their Week 15 matchup against another division rival, the New York Giants.

“You hate to see something like that where he limps off the field because he’s such a key piece of the offensive line,” Cowboys COO Stephen Jones said on Monday.

The Cowboys need all the help they can get at the moment, as they are being widely critiqued for their recent struggles on offense. In what was once a dynamic offense earlier this season, the unit led by Dak Prescott has failed to convert third downs, run effectively, and make the passing plays that made CeeDee Lamb a household name.

Some of the issues seem to be with the offensive line, which Smith has been absent from for nearly all of November. All-Pro right guard Zach Martin even took responsibility for the offensive struggles by saying the o-line was partially to blame.

“I think you’ve got to look first and foremost at our room,” Martin said. “We take a lot of pride in that run game and over the last few weeks it hasn’t been what we want it to be, so we’ve just got to get back to basics.”

Getting back to basics might mean getting back to their starting lineup — but with Smith out, that is going to be a challenge as the Cowboys likely head to the playoffs.
