With some of the matchups on the books for Week 4, it figured that there were going to be some big shakeups in the college football rankings after Saturday. Part of that was inevitable with some ranked opponents going toe-to-toe, but others were less obvious.
In the mid-afternoon slate, the headliner was No. 11 Tennessee trying to exorcise its demons against No. 20 Florida in Knoxville. The Vols, though they tried to give every one of their fans heart palpitations in the process, got the job done to win for the just the second time in the last 18 years of that rivalry.
Elsewhere in the country, though, we saw Texas try to sleepwalk in Lubbock but get clipped by Texas Tech. The most embarrassing loss, however, was Miami at home getting worked by Middle Tennessee State, an upset absolutely no one saw coming.
So where does that leave us with the night games still to play? Let’s take a look at the projected college football rankings after these upsets and big results.

Put simply, Florida, Miami and Texas have no business being in the Top 25 rankings anymore. Meanwhile, 4-0 teams like Minnesota, Kansas and Syracuse have all earned their place in the rankings with perfect starts and some big wins in Week 4.
Of course, these rankings could still change throughout the rest of Saturday but, after the mid-afternoon slate and some wild results, this is where we stand with the college football rankings.
