The 8 best horror movie franchises to watch this Halloween season

Everyone loves a great horror movie to watch during the Halloween season. Here, we share our eight favorite Halloween movies and horror franchises.

To be considered a horror franchise, movies must have at least one sequel. However, the following horror films go way past that. They all either reach the double digits or come fairly close to it!

As all horror movie fans know, this doesn’t necessarily mean that the movies have great or very successful with critics. In Hollywood, all it takes to inspire a sequel is how well it did at the box office. If there is some profit to be made, you bet Hollywood won’t hesitate to make it!

Each Halloween season sees the release of a new chapter in a horror franchise, or, if we’re lucky, a brand new horror movie. In the month of October 2021, we’ll be getting Jeepers Creepers 4 and Halloween Killsboth horror movie franchises. But I’m even more excited about A24’s Lamb

1. Scream

Popular Quote: “What’s your favorite scary movie?”

Wes Craven’s horror franchise Scream reinvented the modern slasher cult genre. The series follows Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell), a woman hunted by a masked killer known as “Ghostface.” Ghostface has killed many people and will stop at nothing to kill Sidney. In each movie, the mask is worn by a different killer. So there’s a new mystery in each movie.

The opening scene with Drew Barrymore became an instant hit and is still quoted and mocked today.

Along with gore and violence, Scream is also known for its cheesy one-liners and ridiculous situations. The Scream franchise inspired parodies such as Scary Movie and MTV recently released a TV series inspired by the movies. There are a total of four movies and a fifth one on the way set to premiere in 2022.
