6 movies to watch (and 3 to skip) in April 2022

We have another massive month of movies coming out and a ton of them are dropping in theaters. Below, I share a quick list featuring 6 movies to watch and 3 to skip in the month of April, because if we’re being honest, they are not always worth it.

With the number of movies released each month, it is hard to find which ones are coming out on streaming and in theaters. On top of that, it is hard to figure out which ones are worth your time and should you watch. So we try our best to weed the good and the bad out for you.

We are right on the cusp of summer movie season and April is coming out with quite a few bangers to kick off the summer season. So let’s get right into the films we want you to check out in the month of April.

Movies to watch in April 2022

The Bubble: Streaming on Netflix April 1

The Bubble is something I have been looking forward to since it was announced. Of course, I love Judd Apatow and his body of work, but I also love the star-studded cast that is highlighted by Iris Apatow, Karen Gillian, Pedro Pascal, Leslie Mann and Maria Bakalova.

Morbius: In theaters April 1

Is the movie officially coming out? I have no clue. Is Morbius going to be good? I have no clue. I hope it is good because I have seen the trailer in theaters for what feels like an eternity. Also, will we see a Spider-Man appearance? That is going to be something we all hope to see.

Ambulance: In theaters April 8

Nobody and I mean NOBODY, is a bigger fan of Jake Gyllenhaal than me. I love Jake (Sorry, Swifties) and we haven’t seen him in an action-style film in a long time. I look forward to seeing him opposite Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, who has had him quite the last two years, breaking onto the scene with Candyman, The Matrix Resurrections and The Trial of the Chicago 7. My biggest fear? Michael Bay. But if anyone knows how to shoot action, it’s Bay.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2: In theaters April 8

Sonic the Hedgehog blew any little expectations I had for this film out of the water. The movie didn’t turn out to be just good, but it was super impressive on so many different levels. I was happy to hear we are getting a sequel where we will explore more of Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik, the debut of Tails, and Idria Elba as Knuckles.

The Northman: In theaters April 22

While I wasn’t a fan of writer/director Robert Eggers’s last venture in The Lighthouse, he is still incredibly talented at presenting his craft that every movie he comes out with is a must-see. With a loaded cast from Alexander Skarsgard, Nicole Kidman, Anya Taylor-Joy, Willem Dafoe and many more, The Northman has the possibility of being great.

The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent: In theaters April 22

Nicolas Cage playing Nicolas Cage in a movie where someone pays him a million dollars to come to his birthday party? What more do you need to be excited about this one? I am excited for this one and jealous of anyone who has seen it already.

Movies to skip in April 2022

Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore: In theaters on April 15

I am sure some of you will be like, WHAT? HOW COULD YOU INCLUDE THIS. I haven’t seen many of the Harry Potter movies, plus, this doesn’t look good, either. I say SKIP this and check out some of the other titles dropping this month.

The Bad Guys: In Theaters April 15

The movie looks like another run-of-the-mill animated movie. Could it end up being good? Maybe, but I’ll wait till it leaves theaters to decide that.

Choose or Die: Netflix on April 15

Honestly, Netflix isn’t that good at horror movies (yet) and that’s why I have this movie on the list. I am excited to see Sex Education’s Asa Butterfield in something outside of that show, but the premise looks like something we’ve seen before, and I am not interested in checking it out.

From our list of movies to watch, which are you the most excited to see? Did we miss any?
