Green Bay Packers receiver Allen Lazard and his agent pleaded with the NFL to let him play this week, but it was all for nothing.

With the Thursday Night Football showdown between the Green Bay Packers and Arizona Cardinals around the corner, receiver Allen Lazard is no doubt bummed he won’t be able to suit up. Lazard, who is unvaccinated, was placed on the COVID list along with Davante Adams.

However, per ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Lazard was doing everything in his power to try and get cleared in time to head to Arizona. Unfortunately for him, the NFL put its foot down and he’ll indeed miss the Week 8 tilt.

#Packers WR Allen Lazard and agent Peter Schaffer made a case to the NFL this week that Lazard, a Covid-19 close contact, should be eligible for tonight’s game. They argued Lazard was not a close contact to Davante Adams, thus no chance of transmission…

Fowler added that Lazard is out due to being a close contact, but he had showcased five straight days of negative testing. Despite that, the NFL said that Lazard’s status won’t be changed and he’ll have to watch the TNF contest from home.

For Aaron Rodgers, it’s obviously disappointing. The fact that he’ll be without both Adams and Lazard is bad news for the offense as a whole. However, guys like Randall Cobb and others will have to step their game up with the two speedsters out of action.

The Thursday Night Football clash between Arizona and Green Bay really should be one to remember, with the Packers at 6-1 and Arizona at a perfect 7-0. Rodgers won’t be making any excuses, as he’ll look to record a memorable victory in the desert without two his of favorite playmakers.

Lazard knows he could have made a major difference in this one. He’ll now have to stay patient and keep testing negative so he can take the field come Week 9 going up against the Chiefs.
