In a bit of a stunning turn of events, Dabo Swinney has come out and said he’s been a big fan of both Derek Carr and the Las Vegas Raiders.

As soon as Dabo Swinney was spotted on the sidelines watching the Las Vegas Raiders game against the Washington Football Team, folks out there started wondering just what in the heck was going on. Well, it turns out Swinney likes the Raiders quite a bit.

It would make sense, as multiple players have made their way from Swinney’s program to the Raiders. The list of course includes wideout Hunter Renfrow. But, just how big of a fan is Swinney of the AFC West team?

Dabo Swinney has openly come out and said he likes the Raiders

“Dabo Swinney literally has FaceTimed me or texted me more than like my coaches that I played with in college. I promise,” Raiders quarterback Derek Carr said while on the Harvester sports podcast in November. “This man FaceTimed me the other day, and it wasn’t even anything about Hunter (Renfrow). He’s like, ‘Hey man, keep it going. Man, so proud of you. I’m so fired up.’ I’m like, ‘Dude, you’re getting me fired up.’”

While Swinney is loving life at Clemson, folks out there think that he could be interested in the Raiders head coaching job. The team is of course looking for a full-time replacement for Jon Gruden, who resigned this season after his disturbing e-mails were made public.

Carr clearly has developed a strong relationship with Swinney too. This could just be Swinney rooting on former players, or it could turn out to be something much bigger than that. For now, we’ll keep the speculation to a minimum and leave that up to you.
