Bears fans furious over Devin Hester missing out on Hall of Fame
The UCF Knights got the 2022 college softball season started off with a bang as they beat the Georgia Bulldogs in extra innings for a huge upset win.
The Georgia Bulldogs’ first game without Lu Harris-Champer probably didn’t go the way they wanted it to.
While meeting up with the UCF Knights to get the 2022 college softball season underway, the Bulldogs ended up falling short as UCF managed to pull off an impressive 7-6 upset in extra innings at the CFX Classic in Orlando.
With the game tied up in the bottom of the eighth inning, UCF sophomore Shannon Doherty sent a solo shot walk-off home run screaming past the left field wall to secure a win for the Knights over the Bulldogs.
And of course, her teammates reacted accordingly.
Doherty also very clearly has the art of the bat flip down. This is pretty much perfect execution from the sophomore.
Make sure the hit actually gets the ball outside of the stadium. Let it clearly stay fair as it soars. Start moving towards first base. Launch the bat towards the dugout.
College softball: UCF knocks down Georgia with walk-off home run at the CFX Classic
Given that the season just got underway, the NCAA is correct, this is the first upset of the 2022 college softball season. All things considered, there’s a pretty good chance it could end up being one of the biggest of the year. Georgia is a college softball blue blood and UCF found a way to earn some respect with this win.
Pretty much across the board with all the rankings out there, the Bulldogs were ranked relatively high while UCF sat outside the rankings. Georgia was previously ranked at No. 20 here and UCF was unranked.
Depending on what happens the rest of the weekend, don’t be surprised to see the Knights rewarded with some respect early next week.
